Blood Pressure Measurement Event at Georgian Parliament

As part of awareness campaign of National week of Hypertension (April 1-7th) together with National Center of Disease Control and Public Health and Health Commission in Georgian Parliament the project organized Mass Screening of Blood pressure and other CVD risk factors in Georgian Parliament.

In light with WHO recommendation on detection and control of high blood pressure (measurement, health advice and treatment), the project tried to couple these activities with simultaneous reduction of other risk factors that cause heart attacks and strokes, mass screenings during this week included risk factor screening and, in case of ≥2 risk factors, calculation of 10 year risk of CVD event. During the Blood Screening in Parliament, 21 parliament members including head of Health Care Commission and 40 workers of mid-level staff have their blood pressure measured; behavioral risk-factors assessed and received respective counseling and information materials. The event was featured throughout the week by regional and country-wide TV channels.
